The Departure of Weathergirl Christina Loren from KNTV NBC San Jose is Upsetting a LOT of People

Friday, May 29th, 2015

[UPDATE: If you want updates on Christina, as thousands of you do, apparently, click on over to this Christina Loren page at RICH LIEBERMAN 415 MEDIA to get all the deets – he keeps up with things, to say the least.]

I’ll tell you, the only time I’ve watched NBC the past decade is at a few Super Bowl parties, the ones I can’t/couldn’t host myself because … NBC monopolizes the Super Bowl every three years, like clockwork, and I live in the center of Frisco with only a rabbit ear antenna to catch glimpses of the vast TV wasteland.

Anywho, I don’t know why tens of thousands have visited this tiny WordPress looking for info about Christina “Loren” recently – I suppose they’re just discovering the news of her recent departure from KNTV?

Here’s a snapshot of the Search Engine Terms people use to get to this site in order of popularity, currently. See? Like, “WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRISTINA LOREN” ‘n stuff like that:

Here’s an old post – it’s gotten hundreds of comments over the years, including a few from Christina’s household itself/Christina herself (I can’t narrow it down), if you can believe that, you generally “unkempt” Bay Area women, you “haters” both male and female.

Now I’ll tell you, whatever you say about Christina “Loren,” you can’t say she wouldn’t immediately boost the ratings of any Bay Area Station what hired her, when and if that’s possible…

Leaving you with a thumbnail of the most epic animated gif ever:

NBC Spoils Its Own Internet Broadcast: Super Bowl XLIX Shown Time-Delayed, But the Score Ticker is Updated in Real Time

Sunday, February 1st, 2015

[UPDATE: Slate weighs in: NBC’s Super Bowl Live Stream Was Hugely Popular. It Was Also Terrible. By Will Oremus. OhI guess a couple interruptions delayed my feed so I could have pressed a button to catch up and then have had only a 30-second delay. IMO, this NBC live stream was BTN, Better Than Nothing – consider that praise if you want.]

Here’s a screen grab from NBC’s webcast of today’s Super Bowl:

Capturefdfsss copy

So if you had noticed the live score seen at the top of the screen, then you’d have known that the Seattle drive you were watching would end, SPOILER ALERT, in a field goal.

Cord cutting* comes at a price, so very high.

Just saying.

*Believe it or not, my town, the second-largest in the northern half of the state, has no NBC affiliate, so my aging 70 inch Sharp has zero chance of receiving KNTV out of San Joser using my rabbit ears, as I’m on the wrong side of Twin Peaks. Plus, I can’t go satellite as I have no view of the southern sky. And Comcast, well, Comcast is the Devil. Now last year, that was different, that was par-tay time (at least until the end, the very end of the game) at 720p on a decent, non-spoiler network. But this year, meh. Oh well.

Our Inefficient, Wasteful San Francisco Film Commission is Desperately Trying to Justify Itself – Potential Marketing Efforts

Friday, October 31st, 2014

These aren’t real ads, not yet. But they show you how the SFFC is thinking:

Capturegdfgd

(BTW, what the SFFC calls a “job” is what I’d call a gig, some of which are offered at less than minimum wage, just like the America’s Cup)

All film commissions are bad.

How is the SFFC better than any of the rest?

How is the SFFC better than SF’s recent hosting of the disastrous America’s Cup?

BTW, NBC’s Trauma medical drama was a big piece of shit, you know, frankly. Now people might say that I shouldn’t say that, but I don’t think they’d contradict me. Yes, the Trauma people spent some money and some people benefited, but there’s no reason why they should be treated any different than any other group of visitors coming to town. Anyway, Trauma sucked, big-time, despite what the SFFC people said about it. And part of the reason why it was cancelled had to do with how damn expensive it was to film on the Streets of San Francisco. So, what I’m saying is that maybe the whole concept of filming Trauma on location in SF was a bad idea – I’m certainly not saying we should have subsidized its production even more than we did.

And if Hollywood says it doesn’t want to come here to film, that’s O.K. Some productions, the ones that make sense, will come anyway.

Anywho, look for one of these feel-good banner ads to appear on your screens soon…

Tracking That Stolen Bike Owned by The Today Show: From The Mission to the Mid-Market to 1729 McKinnon Ave in The Bayview

Thursday, September 4th, 2014

I’ll tell you, I actually got around to watching that five-minute clip from the Today Show about bike thieves in the West Coast Capital of Bike Thievery, San Francisco.

And I says, “1729, huh?” You see, that was the street address on the front door that that Today Show guy knocked on. And they showed the street itself, so I guessed a 94124 zip code and then excluded the first two hits (1729 Geneva and 1729 Sunnydale because they both didn’t make sense) by making this Google search: “-Geneva -Sunnydale 94124 1729 .”

And, lo, up pops 1729 McKinnon in the Lower Third:

Captured

It’s sort of funny how the bike thief made a bee-line to the Thieves Market at Civic Center – that’s what you could see when they showed the GPS track. Anyway, the next stop was a shed in the Bayview.

SF, you have a problem with bike theft – deal with it. Like, it’s national news, literally.

NBC’s Today Show Dedicates Five Minutes to Bike Theft – Ed Lee’s San Francisco a National Laughingstock – Video

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

Our little town, second-largest in the Bay Area, got some national attention yesterday. See the video below.

Do you think appointed Interim Mayor Ed Lee knows about it? IDK. Prolly not, as he’s being pressured to raise more money to run for reelection and his people probably don’t have reason to tell him.

Anyway, enjoy:

“TODAY   |  September 02, 2014

Rossen Reports: Bike bandits caught on camera
According to the FBI, nearly 200,000 bikes are stolen every year. To show how quickly it can happen, NBC national investigative correspondent Jeff Rossen and his team locked a bike to a tree in San Francisco and not only captured its theft on camera, but followed it on its journey after being stolen.”

Poor Ed Lee.

Poor San Francisco.

Antenna Farm: The Misty Mountains of San Bruno – Or, the Reason Why You Can’t Watch the Olympics Using Rabbit Ears

Thursday, February 13th, 2014

These stubby nubbins are no match for Twin Peaks, so that’s why you can’t watch NBC without paying The Man on a monthly basis.

It’s also why you can’t host a Super Bowl Party once every three years.

BTW, your local electeds just looove the Comcast monopoly – it’s kind of a failure of Democracy.

In closing, death to Comcast, death to Time Warner. Rise up, Comrades!

How Do People Get To This Blog? With Queries Like “christina loren implants nbc” – Notes on the KNTV NBC Weather Girl

Thursday, February 6th, 2014

[UPDATE, May 2015: Christina is OUT at KNTV, per RICH LIEBERMAN 415 MEDIA – TV, Radio, Internet…dishing dirt since 2001. I’m sure he’ll have all the deets with a quickness.]

I’ll tell you, some days the Internet gets inundated with questions about stereotypical weather girl Christina Loren and some days it does not. I think it mostly* has to do with what outfit she happens to be wearing on that particular day, mostly. This is Monday’s effort:

Is this a job in bay area media? Is Christina “Loren” a journalist? Sort of, I suppose.

I remember seeing this ad three years ago and thinking, gee, this doesn’t seem very Bay Area, how is this going to go?

And it went pretty much like I expected.

Anyway, if you actually care about the weather, Intellicast’s radar can tell you if you’ve got an hour to get to the store and back before it starts raining again, so that’s nice.

*And I think that people all-of-a-sudden care about the weather this week – that’s another factor I’m sure

Here’s the Latest Controversial SFMTA MUNI Bus Ad: “THIS IS ISLAMIC APARTHEID” – Uh, You’re Losing This Game, SFMTA

Wednesday, June 19th, 2013

Via the District 5 Blog comes the news

On It Goes

All the deets:

“After months of procrastination and dhimmitude, the San Francisco MTA finally posted our Islamic apartheid ads on city buses (above are the first of the pics). They have been running the libelous “Israel is an apartheid state” ad without hesitation (or substantiation), mind you. I, on the other hand, had to provide numerous links and references to back up my ads. Why me and not them? Because I was stating fact, but the Jew-haters were merely expressing their opinion. You can’t make this stuff up, folks.

San Francisco turned over the revenue from our ads to Muslim groups to study the effect AFDI ads had on the Muslim community, I kid you not. But they kept the revenue from the Jew-hatred ads.

We will educate the American people despite the difficulty, despite the obstacles.”

Speaking of Offensive MUNI Bus Ads, Check Out This Campaign from San Francisco’s DAVID CLAY JEWELERS

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

Add this one to the list of crimes from DAVID KAY JEWELERS:

“You won’t get jealous when your friend gets the newer smaller version”

(Oh, and BTW, the offensive ad here isn’t “anti-gay” not at all.

To say so is ignorant.

But it is anti other things, I’ll grant you that.)

In closing, diamonds are horrible. Get anything else but a diamond. People will figure this out soon enough and the worthless piece of rock on your finger will be even more worthless a couple decades from now.

And more importantly, it will be seen by others as worthless.

Oh well.
