I saw an ad from the San Francisco Examiner on the Bay to Breakers website the other day what claimed the claim above.
Is it true? I don’t know.
Anyway, here’s the claim on the same website from a couple year’s back:

San Francisco Police Request Public’s Assistance in Identifying a Person of Interest in a Homicide Investigation.
Police investigators are requesting assistance from the public in identifying a suspect who has been accessing the bank account information of a homicide victim.
On 5/12/2011 at 5:00pm, San Francisco Police responded to a residence on the 2900 block of Folsom Street. A family member found the victim, Joseph Williams age 74, deceased in his apartment. The death has been ruled a homicide by the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office.
The suspect in the associated photos and video has been accessing the victim’s bank account information in various locations in San Francisco and the Bay Area. The suspect has been described as a male, black, approximately 50-60 years old, 5’03” – 5’05”, thin build, medium complexion. He has been seen driving a gold or beige sedan (possibly a Mercedes “E” Class) with a sun roof.
