The Mysterious Boulders That Have Just Popped in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle

Friday, December 14th, 2012

I think these boulders are telling us that The Solstice is coming soon, or something.

Or maybe the Panhandle Park Stewards have something to do with these new arrivals.

Foreground and background – are these rocks and others nearby going to stay here?

Oh, by the way, Stewards. People are still kind of pissed about how local real estate interests chased away the harmless Panhandle Bandshell a half-decade back. And, you know, Stewards, you all seem kind of cozy with area realtors (lower-case “r” as always) and homeowners associations. So what I’m saying is that most residents would prefer a muddier Panhandle with the Bandshell than a less muddy Panhandle with whatever it is that you’re spearheading.

Just saying, Bro-ham.

Shadowy “PROSF” Association Leader Hosts Meeting with Christina Olague Last Month, Gets Repaved Block This Month

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

This here is the flyer posted on a street in the “West Panhandle” area last month by the more-or-less anti-SF “PRO-SF” Homeowners Association.

Well, a slightly modified, Run Ed Run version – don’t click to expand

And this here is this month, on the same block, the very short block where the leader of PRO-SF, a Helen Lovejoy type, a person who worked against the harmless, SFPD-supported Panhandle Bandshell music project back a half-decade ago just happens to reside.

You see that? A quick repaving job, just for one block, just ten weeks before the District Five Supervisor election:

Now, are other blocks getting repaved? Yes, occasionally. But not anywhere close to here. And now the DPW pavers are gone. poof. Who knows when they will return. Next year, next decade? And hey, was this block so bad to begin with? Nope.

Is this process of where to pave when, you know, highly politicized? Yes, pretty much – it’s the same with the SFMTA and other agencies.

Is there a connection between the location of the real estate of a single fussbudget and where DPW decides to repave this week this month this year? I don’t know.

But other Chicago-style, Blagojevichy stuff goes on about town, so why not this too?

“Silent Frisco” is Silent Disco – Grab Your Headphones and Dance – Even the NoPA NIMBYs Approve!

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

This was the scene over the weekend in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle.

See? Just look at those kids go!

But you couldn’t hear this party, cause people were dancing whilst listening to a DJ’s short-range broadcast.

It’s Silent Frisco, baby!

Now, do you remember the five-star rated Panhandle Bandshell from a half-decade ago? It was placed in the same basic place in the park until it got chased away by real estate interests and the horrible white, wizened, wealthy NIMBYs what still infest the Upper Haight / North of Panhandle areas.

Will area NIMBY’s now start complaining about Silent Frisco?

I don’t know, maybe they never even noticed.

Bon Courage, Silent Frisco!

“Silent Frisco makes your “scene” not heard, preserving the right for artists express themselves in public settings where “noise” has previously made such activities impractical or illegal. Through the use of custom “silent” wireless headphone technology, Silent Frisco produces unique music experiences, where live artists rock the house without waking the neighbors!

WE OWN TWO THOUSAND 2-CHANNEL, FESTIVAL-OPTIMIZED WIRELESS HEADPHONES. Custom-designed and built from scratch, Silent Frisco headsets operate TWO simultaneous independent radio channel feeds, while providing the best in audio clarity, volume, and comfort.

Developed in the 1980s, ‘Silent Disco’ concept made it’s U.S. debut at the 2005 Bonnaroo Festival, where resident Dj and Silent Frisco founder Robbie “MoPo” Kowal (pictured) introduced the user-friendly technology to ecstatic audiences seeking additional late night programming. Since then, Kowal, and Silent Frisco team have been pushing this unique concept at dozens of major U.S. music and arts festivals.”

OMG, the Panhandle Bandshell Has Gone Missing – When Oh When Will it Find a Permanent Home?

You see, it use to be all like this.

But now, it’s all like this. It’s gone.

Hey, what if we put the Panhandle Bandshell back in the Panhandle where it belongs? You know, permanent-like.

Maybe someday…

Pathetic Panhandle Bandshell Now Sits Surrounded by Parked Cars – A NIMBY Victory

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

The belov’d Panhandle Bandshell got kicked out of Golden Gate Park a few years back only to end up in a damn parking lot up at Fort Mason.

I blame NIMBYs, people like those melon-farmers at that shadowy PRO-SF organization. Supposedly, the bandshell attracted hippies to the Panhandle, but there are more hippies (sitting with their dogs in drumless drum circles) than ever so go figure. And there was the noise issue that the nearby small-time millionaire landed gentry were worried about, but the music wasn’t amplified or anything. Oh well.

A sea of car hoods - some recycled, some yet-to-be recycled:

Whom do you blame?

Godspeed, little bandshell. Your Time is Gonna Come. Someday, you’ll find a proper home, surrounded by crimson and clover instead of Honda and Hyundai…
