Calling BS on “Coastal Motor Escorts” – Motorcycle Security Guards with Seven Pointed Star Emblems to Look Like the SFPD?Tuesday, January 14th, 2014
Boy oh boy, do you think that this funeral escort motorcycle driver in the Western Addition has taken steps to appear to be an active-duty peace officer with the SFPD or CHP? Well, I do.

I’m calling bullshit on the seven-pointed star up front and the squares designed to look like blue lights on the rear. I’ll tell you, there was this whole big deal about officers people in the San Francisco Patrol Special Police wearing seven-pointed stars when really they should all be wearing six-pointers. And blue lights? That should reserved for the real popo, non?
“8. Oliveira, Michael 669 Bridgewater Circle, Danville 94526 Funeral Procession Escort OK Permit; dba “Coastal Motor Escorts, LLC.” Permit #: 139056 District: U ID: 4971″
…but that doesn’t mean you have the right to impersonate police, right?
Now let’s learn a bit about this outfit from the San Jose Mercury News:
“QUESTION: Mr. Roadshow, the other day I had a scary encounter with a gun-toting security guard on a motorcycle while traveling on Interstate 880 in San Leandro. I was traveling with the flow of traffic when a white BMW motorcycle with emergency-type lights with “Coastal Motor Escorts” pulled next to my vehicle and began honking his horn and shaking his fist at me. I looked down and noticed my speedometer showed I was going 67 mph. I continued to drive and the motorcycle security guard pulled behind my vehicle and began flashing his high-beam lights at me. I was not sure if I should pull over or continue. There was no funeral procession or other activity and this guy was traveling alone.”
Read on for more deets of this encounter, be my guest.
And this isn’t just in Frisco – read on about what happens elsewhere.
So, I know all the reasons why motorized security guards would like to be perceived as being currently-employed peace officers, but I don’t agree with what Coastal Motor Escorts is doing in San Francisco.
I cry foul.
OMG, It’s Scary Video of a Highline Over San Francisco – How Would You Like to Tightrope Walk Near the Golden Gate?Tuesday, January 7th, 2014
Oh man, RPD General Manager Phil Ginsburg is NOT going to like seeing this. ‘Cause the daredevil seen below didn’t take a time-out to thank lawyer Phil Ginsburg for being appointed as RPD general manager.
Now, there’s a safety line, but this video is scary nevertheless.
As seen near Land’s End, near the Golden Gate Bridge:
This Billboard Above the Masonic Starbucks Kicks Off Roe v. Wade Month in SF – Abortion Marches ComingMonday, December 23rd, 2013
I can’t recall the last time I saw a pro-life billboard in San Francisco. Maybe never?
Here it is, on Masonic near Fulton – it’s all “My Doc Says, ‘I Could Smile Before I Was Born – 12 Weeks from Conception'”

Sometimes the counter-protest is a bigger deal, other times locals purposefully ignore WFLWC. I don’t know how it’s going to be in 2014…
Bacon Bacon NIMBYs Make Saturday Night Live: Client(s) of Ryan Patterson Now a National LaughingstockSunday, May 19th, 2013
Well this wacky story just went national today on Saturday Night Live – here’s Weekend Update co-host Amy Poehler, via Brock Keeling of SFist:
Perhaps not that funny but at least now more people are mocking attorney Ryan Patterson and his unknown client(s).
At least now there’s an upside to this flagrant NIMBYism.
So feel free to add this incident…

Photographic Evidence of Official San Francisco Corruption: Free Parking for SFGov Employees Attending Giants GamesMonday, April 8th, 2013
I didn’t take these photos, but I’ll tell you, I’ve seen a lot of corruption regarding free parking for SFGov employees in the SoMA area, so I believe them.
Here’s a photo essay with captions from Jim, who went on a walkabout yesterday.
Take a look:
“There are the People who pay up front to park in a lot, $25-$70. There are the people who feed meters but many of those wind up paying $72 to the City long after the last pitch. And there are those who play the system and possibly cheat and pay nothing for parking in a “red zone” with the help from “winking and nodding” SFMTA Parking Control Officers.
All these photos were taken within a 50 foot circle near 2nd & Townsend at 2:15 P.M. on Sunday April 7, 2013 during the Giants/St. Louis Baseball game.
1) Number 1 shows what the average slug must pay for parking for the Giant’s game at 2 in the afternoon, i.e. $70.
2) Number 2 shows a Handicapped placard vehicle getting free Giants game parking in the “red zone” of the SFFD at Second & Townsend. Handicapped placard holders may not park in “red zones.”
3) What appears to be several private vehicles of S.F. firefighters parked in the “red zone” claiming to be working by their Official Papers on the Dash. Is it mere code for “don’t ticket a fellow City employee?”
4) Several motorcycles getting ticketed (TC27, 219) for expired meters by the PCO who just drove by the “red zones” without seeing cause to stop.
5) Photo of SFFD Headquarters at 9:30 A.M., Sunday April 7, 2013 in case you think a lot of people work there on a Sunday.
