Opening of San Francisco’s Classiest New Steakhouse, the Penthouse Club, Covered by Our Classiest News Station, KRON-TV

Friday, March 16th, 2012

I think that’s Vicki Liviakis* doing a stand-up** in front of the VIP line last night at the Grand Opening of our brand-new San Francisco PENTHOUSE CLUB & Steakhouse.

Looked like kind of a sausage-fest, actually:

But, oh, the reviews are in, already. Let’s hear from from the “Yelp Elite” cognoscente:

“My boyfriend got the 28-day dry aged bone-in ribeye with chimichurri sauce and I got the grass fed filet mignon with shallot confit and sauce Diane. We were both getting full at this point, but not full enough to not devour both of these beef dishes. The chimichurri sauce was the best we have ever had and really enhanced the juicy ribeye. My filet mignon was tasty and rich and the shallot confit added a nice sweet touch to the dish. We had the Jordan Cab with the meat dishes.

“This was one of the best food experiences I have had in a long time! Every single dish was eaten in its entirety and the bits were scraped off the plate with our forks. I would have licked the plate had I been at home. Executive Chef Mike Ellis has created an amazing and versatile menu that is guaranteed to please anyone’s palate.”

O.K. then.

Bon Courage, San Francisco PENTHOUSE CLUB & Steakhouse!

*At first, I thought she might have been the talent, you know, coming out of the limo. (That’s a compliment, I suppose…)

**I can’t recall ever seeing a real live person holding a KRON 4*** video camera, cause, you know, usually a tripod does the job. That’s the “VJ” concept.

***If I were in charge of KRON, I’d apply to the FCC to change the name to KORN**** and then I’d beg NBC for an affiliate contract, you know, so it’d be like the old days. That would improve ratings 150% overnight, I’d wager.

****And actually, it would have a Cyrillic R, you know, like this: KoЯn-TV

Of What Use is the San Francisco Small Business Commission (SBC)? Should We Have a Large Business Commish As Well?

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

I don’t know, you think the Small Business Commission would approve the shut-down of Costco and Safeway and Lucky and all the others for the simple reason that they aren’t small businesses? Mmmm….

Anyway, our Small Biz Commish just voted in favor of small bizzes, in a way.

Here’s the beauty part:

“I don’t think that we are going to turn this down because we are afraid that it’s not legal.”

All right, well, anyway, it’s close to being not legal with the way things are now, just saying, SBC.

Suffer the non-small businesses of the world:

Where’s their business commission?

Video: Bill O’Reilly Offers to Run for Mayor of San Francisco on a Ticket with Jeff Adachi

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

This video speaks for itself. (Not sure that San Francisco has an office entitled “Vice-Mayor,” but realize that this whole deal is coming from the same guy who avoids the Safest Neighborhood in San Francisco due to concerns over personal safety. Also, Bill claims he’s visited San Francisco “hundreds of times.” I’ll bet you a loofah he’s exaggerating a skosh.)

Bonus: Take a look and see if San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi is in favor of prosecuting people who try to buy hamsters or Coca Colas.

Will Jeff Adachi be the Mayor of San Francisco come January 2012?

Mmmmm….

Presidio Pet Cemetery to be Maintained by Swords to Plowshares Volunteers

SWORDS TO PLOWSHARES VETS TO HELP CARE FOR PET CEMETERY. VOLUNTEERS WILL TEND GRAVES OF BELOVED MILITARY PETS

Presidio of San Francisco (March 18, 2010) — The Presidio Trust and the Swords to Plowshares Veterans Academy, located on the Presidio, are kicking off a new partnership that will ensure long-term stewardship of the Presidio Pet Cemetery. The agreement provides for Trust staff to work with residents at Swords to Plowshares’ permanent supportive housing facility, the Veterans Academy, to maintain and improve the cemetery. Activities will include pulling weeds, removing invasive plants, picking up trash, trimming shrubs, and eventually restoring individual grave markers.

Located at the foot of McDowell Avenue, beneath Doyle Drive, and bounded by a white fence, the 450-square foot cemetery is the final resting place for hundreds of loyal animals owned by families stationed at the Presidio. The cemetery’s official record is spotty but, by most accounts, it dates to the 1950s when upwards of 2,000 military families lived on the base. There are numerous legends surrounding the cemetery, which some believe was originally a burial ground for nineteenth-century cavalry horses or World War II guard dogs.

“The pet cemetery gives us insight into family life at the Presidio. It is part of the fabric of the park and former military base,” says Craig Middleton, the Trust’s Executive Director. “We are grateful that the veterans of Swords to Plowshares have offered to care for this important part of the Presidio’s legacy.”

A Patient Pooch Waits for Its Owner on Irving Street

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

No matter how long it takes you to imbibe and eat in the Inner Sunset, you can always count on your dog to patiently wait for you. And only you.

What’s that you say? In San Francisco, we use the term “guardian” instead of “owner”? Well that’s right, sort of. Either word is kosher under the law, per Article 1, Section 41

(m)   ”Guardian” shall have the same rights and responsibilities of an owner, and both terms shall be used interchangeably.

So that’s fair enough.
