Samuel L Jackson Selfies Show Him Going from Glad to Sad on His Recent Trip to Beijing, China – Air Quality

Wednesday, March 26th, 2014

Here’s SLJ on a small, snake-free plane on his way to China:

“‘Bout to go wheels up from London to Beijing. Might have to get my slumber on!”

But when he got there, he was dissatisfied with the Air Quality (AQ) level:

“Even w/ lights, you can only see 2 1/2 blocks…maybe! AQ 312!!”

Poor SLJ!

Sorry, San Francisco Chronicle, But This Photo Shows a Cyclist EXACTLY NOT Riding Down 20th Street

Monday, March 24th, 2014

Heh. Is this a joke, cause I’m laughing:

(Interestingly, an SFPD sergeant last week indicated he was looking into an allegation that the photographer of this shot illegally violated the privacy rights of some people inside of the Main Public Library earlier this year. Interestingly, the person who reported this “crime” is a blogger who was convicted last year of violating the very same law. Interestingly.)

Actually, I advocate riding bikes on some sidewalks. In some instances it’s legal and in others it depends on time, place, and manner. (But I’d never ride on the sidewalk on 20th in the Mission just saying.)

Friday, January 17th, 2014

For example, here’s what part of Potrero Hill looks like, more or less, IRL:

And here’s what the TBI published:

You see, the colors have been turned up to 11 – note the Chernobyl-esque glowing yellow trees, for example.

More deets here.

So, add that to your list of photo don’ts, TBI.

Thank you, drive through.

Groove on Trippy Presidio Terrace, As Seen by Google Maps

Friday, July 19th, 2013

Google is now careful about revealing too much about tony Presidio Terrace, as it’s a private street.

Google didn’t know that back in 2007.

Check here and here.

Good times:

It might look like a public street but it’s not, so the people that live on this small loop just north of Clement are free to hire a guard to keep out whomever they want. And not too long ago, the houses here all had restrictive covenants that prevented people of the “non Caucasian race” from buying or leasing on this street. An ad from the latter part of 1906:There is only one spot in San Francisco where only Caucasians are permitted to buy or lease real estate or where they may reside. That place is Presidio Terrace.”

But now Google does know, so no Street Maps for you – it’s terra incogniter. See?

It looks like Instagram or something.

Anyway, the data from the Google Maps Car visit of 2006 is gone.

Long gone.

And the residents like things that way, I suppose.
