Sorry, San Francisco Chronicle, But This Photo Shows a Cyclist EXACTLY NOT Riding Down 20th Street

Monday, March 24th, 2014

Heh. Is this a joke, cause I’m laughing:

(Interestingly, an SFPD sergeant last week indicated he was looking into an allegation that the photographer of this shot illegally violated the privacy rights of some people inside of the Main Public Library earlier this year. Interestingly, the person who reported this “crime” is a blogger who was convicted last year of violating the very same law. Interestingly.)

Actually, I advocate riding bikes on some sidewalks. In some instances it’s legal and in others it depends on time, place, and manner. (But I’d never ride on the sidewalk on 20th in the Mission just saying.)

Stanford’s Crystal Lee, Miss Chinatown USA 2010, is First Runner Up in Miss America 2013 – David Yu Photos

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

Here’s a retread post from 2010. Famous San Francisco photograph David Yu caught the 2010 Miss Chinatown USA popularity contest with a gigantic lens that weighs six pounds, most likely. The walking shot in the red dress is excellent, it captures a mood. Anyway, let’s travel back to yesteryear:

“This was the scene last night at the Palace of Fine Arts, where Stanfurd freshman and bay area local Crystal Lee was crowned Miss Chinatown USA 2010. It’s international news.

All the pageantry was caught by David Yu of davidyuweb. He always has great photos of whatever’s going on the bay area.

The crowning the School of the Arts alum:

Here are all the contestants: Christine Lim 李汶娸, Kristina Owyoung 歐陽坤怡, Samantha Chin 陳冠曄, Leilani Soon 孫愛蘭, Anna Chiem 詹佩盈, Christina Zhang 張子倩, Crystal Lee 李萬晴, Gloria Mui 梅主恩, Angela Wang 王兆蓬, Chang Liu 劉暢, Li Li 李欣燃, and Tong Qiao 喬彤:

David Cruz explains:

“On a quiet marsh road adjacent to the San Francisco Bay in Redwood City, Snowy Egrets feed their newly hatched young:

Notes:

-Snowy Egrets are the smallest of local egrets.

-The begging sounds the chicks make reminded me of Donald Ducks voice flutter

-Nesting in the same tree were Black Crowned Night Herons and a Great Egret

-I estimate over 50 Snowy Egret nests in this colony”

Look at This Scene in Golden Gate Park: Coyotes and People Getting Along – Maybe Dogs and Owners are the Problem?

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

You know who has a lot of shots of coyotes in Golden Gate Park? Nature photographer Dina Boyer does.

Check it:

And check out the rest of her set as well – she has a lot of great shots in there.

I’ll tell you, since the return of coyotes in numbers in GGP, there have been numerous dog incidents but no coyote incidents.

Interesting, non?
