Better A…

…or B?

Hint: One is worth $4.3 million and the other is worth $0.0 million.
Oh well.
Speaking of which, does MUNI pay full market value for the land it uses up at the Presidio Yard?
I wonder.
And for the record, here’s your SFO approach cheat sheet:

I thought most of the bikes in the flat, flat Mission District were fixies these days, but I guess not:
Here are the the latest photos of the recovered rides:

I don’t know, I think it could use a little flava…

…but the person who just bought it for $4.3 million would disagree, to be sure.
Do you notice a theme here?

Right here. (Cause, you know, the Mission District is San Francisco’s Capital of Bike Stealing.)
See?
“New bicycle section on http://www.missionstation.org to track reported stolen and recovered stolen bicycles. Send us your feedback!”
But sadly, the Recovered Bicycle Database only has one entry right now – it’s a black Specialized road bike that I’m sure you’ll recognize in a second, if it’s yours.
“For Information: Inspector Pomatto #2071 Mission Investigations (415) 558-5400″

OTOH, the Stolen Bicycle Database has eight entries currently. See?

Thanks, Captain Corrales!

In response to this post from earlier today, Director of Mayor Edwin M. Lee’s Communications Office Christine Falvey comments:
“The caption must have been a joke. He has not attended any such events. The photo was taken at the Giants game last week.”
So that explains that, I suppose.
Anyway, that was the answer, here was the question:
“Is this photo (or its caption) newsworthy? I don’t know.
But certainly, the fact that Mayor Edwin Lee was present at a “re-elect Ed happy hour” before last week’s 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres is news to me.
Los tres caballeros (Spanish for “bros”) y nuestro alcalde “provisional” Ed Lee:

Click to expand to see the caption. (I’d link to webpage from whence the photo came but it’s gone, long gone, down the memory hole.)
If you think, at this late date, that the prospects for Ed Lee’s re-election weren’t front and center in the conversation The Powers That Be had last January, then you are horribly, horribly naive.
The fact that things were all mapped out for Ed Lee seven months ago makes the happy talk from The Nevius and King Randy Shaw I of the Tenderloin a little grating.
Anyway, if I were in Ed’s shoes, I’d shut down all the recent Run Ed Run talk by saying, “No, I won’t run for re-election – that would be dishonest.”
Just saying, caballero.”

Can you see the Cliff House in there? It used to be a lot bigger but it burned down a lot so we’ll just have to make do with the smaller version.
Here you go.

Right:
“District 9 is an upcoming science fiction film directed by Neill Blomkamp, set for an August 14, 2009 release date.”
Fair enough, but what’s up with all these viral campaign posters just put up in San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi‘s District 5 on Haight Steet in the Lower Haight?
Are these things kosher? I mean, didn’t the Rincon Hill blog just drop the hammer on Sony last week for temporary chalk Angels and Demons sidewalk stencil “grafitti.” Didn’t Sony just apologize to City Attorney Dennis Jose Herrera?
Are stickers a kind of graffiti as well?

“Property of Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc.” Click to expand – it gets big.

Did Sony pay a fee for this? (Doubt it.) Can I advertise my business for free on these poles too?
The World Wonders…
