Our Excellent San Francisco Ballet’s Excellent 2012 Season is Already Half Over – Programs 5 and 6 Run Through April 1, No Fooling

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Well, Programs 5 and 6 are debuting this week at our world-class San Francisco Ballet, and they’ll run through April 1st, 2012.

But don’t take my word for it. Instead, take the words of Teri McCollum in the newish Odette’s Ordeal website. (OMG, there’s a lot of stuff in there.)

All right, see you at the ballet!

The San Francisco Ballet – Why Not Check It Out?

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Have you been to the historic War Memorial Opera House in the Civic Center area to see the San Francisco Ballet, recently? Well why not? You should get over there and check it out.

Program 5, an all-Mark Morris production is finishing up pretty soon but then there’s Program 6 and beyond coming up in April. And here’s a review of Program 4 - there’s something for everybody here.

I wasn’t allowed to take photos but here’s a sample of modern Joyride taken from the recent ad blitz that has banner ads on every website in Christendom (except this one):

And if you go on particular Fridays, you can take advantage of Fridays at the Ballet, which entitles you to a cocktail reception to boot. Pick up a San Francisco Examiner and find the ad to find out how to get a further discount.

And look at all this space in lower level for pre-, intermission, and apre- noshing:

Here’s the thing - they’ve got food and booze and plenty of intermission time, so the whole affair is fairly accessible for those who don’t know the first thing about ballet. Why not get over there and see what’s up?

At the San Francisco Ballet: An All Mark Morris Program

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

The San Francisco Ballet kicks off Program 5 of its 2009 Repertory Season tonight:

The San Francisco Ballet toasts 15 years of collaborations with Mark Morris in 2009. Since creating his first work for the Company in 1994, Morris has choreographed seven works total for SF Ballet, more than for any other dance company besides his own. The ballet will perform A Garden (2001), Joyride (2008) and Sandpaper Ballet (1999) on an All-Morris program.

After the show, there will be a Nite Out post-ballet reception for the LGBT community.
