Hey, Why Don’t We Make It a Crime to Buy Fake Designer Handbags? You Know, the Way New York City Wants To

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

You know what our Fishermans Wharf has a reputation for? For counterfeit handbags, right?

Well, look and see what New York is doing about a similar problem in their Chinatown – some pols Back East want to impose a $1000 fine and six months in jail for the act of buying a fake Mark Jacob.

Check it:

“We don’t want to be known as the place to come to get counterfeit goods,” said Councilwoman Margaret Chin, whose Chinatown district is ground zero for counterfeiters.”

(Well, I can’t tell…)

Why can’t we have a crazy law like this, too?

Shouldn’t purse buyers be afraid to buy purses in San Francisco?

Sure, why not?

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Now, you’re too young to remember Madonna’s Material Girl phase (well maybe this is a better example), but her 80′s look is back in a big way for 2010.

So, this coming Tuesday, August 3rd, you can start lining up at the Macy’s at 170 O’Farrell to get one of 200 free bandeau tops and a gift card and maybe even an autographed Madonna T-shirt if you can pull off a proper Material Girl get-up.

Appears as if Taylor Momsen won’t need too much help to get to an MG look. Anyway, look for her to model la coleccion starting next week:

See? Same lipstick:

The deets:

“The collection launches next week, on 8.3.10, at Macy’s Union Square, and this location is throwing two launch parties on Tuesday to celebrate! At 11 a.m., show up in your best Madonna look for a chance to win an autographed Madonna t-shirt. Then, later in the day (at 3:00), everyone is invited to a shopping party at Macy’s!”

Ever more deets, after the jump

7 for all Mankind Kicks Off its New Boutique in San Franicisco. Recession, What Recession?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Luxury denim maker 7 for all Mankind had a bit of a housewarming the other day for its relatively new San Francisco store at 224 Grant in Union Square. So that’ll be the only place in the Bay Area you can get its products outside of an upscale department store for now - don’t bother dropping by the Costco. (Of course Costco is the place to go to get lesser jeans that fall apart easily, looking at you Calvin Klein. Moving on…)

It’s Spring, time for a new collection. Some of the products are super soft and “pre-distressed,” so they look like some strangers’ prized broken-in jeans. That’s where your money goes.

Straight out of Los Angeles County. When pants have a serial number…

Accessories as well:

In the face of our recession, 7FAMK is opening up boutiques all over the country this year.

Somebody still has money to spend, apparently.

That’s encouraging. Srsly.
