This Billboard Above the Masonic Starbucks Kicks Off Roe v. Wade Month in SF – Abortion Marches Coming

Monday, December 23rd, 2013

I can’t recall the last time I saw a pro-life billboard in San Francisco. Maybe never?

Here it is, on Masonic near Fulton – it’s all “My Doc Says, ‘I Could Smile Before I Was Born – 12 Weeks from Conception’”

Things will finish up with Walk For Life West Coast and the home-grown counter-protest, both of which will occur on January 25, 2014.

Sometimes the counter-protest is a bigger deal, other times locals purposefully ignore WFLWC. I don’t know how it’s going to be in 2014…

Sometimes Haight Ashbury Looks Exactly, I Mean Exactly, the Way You Might Think It Should – “THINK PEACE”

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

I’ve never figured out the sked for these peace people at Fell and Masonic, the entrance to Haight Ashbury as far as tour bus drivers are concerned. I think it’s the last Friday of the month at 5:00 PM during the Evening Drive, something like that.

Anyway, the hula hoop was a nice touch:

New Warriors Arena to be Slightly Lower, Assuming It Gets Built in the First Place – Artist’s Conception

Tuesday, November 12th, 2013

So, unlike the disastrous America’s Cup and 8 Washington campaigns, the Golden State Warriors project is based around stuff that San Franciscans can actually benefit from.

So that’s a good sign.

Remember, the more you complain now, the better this deal gets for San Francisco. You the public are the bad cop and genial SFGov figurehead Ed Lee is the good cop. And of course the good cop won’t be able to get the best deal possible for San Francisco without the bad cop.

If Ed Lee doesn’t like this game, then he can just retire, right? Or go back to his old job the way he promised to in the first place, right?

It’s too bad that Oakland will lose its team.

Oh well.

Flags of Single-Party States Over San Francisco City Hall: Germany 1935, People’s Republic of China 2012

Monday, October 21st, 2013

1935: Germany strong:

2012: People’s Republic* of China strong:

And you can’t see, but there are five stars on the PRC flag:

“The five stars and their relationship represents the unity of Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The orientation of the stars shows that the unity should go around a center.[6] The larger star symbolizes the Communist Party of China, and the four smaller stars that surround the big star symbolize the four social classes (the working class, the peasantry, the urban petite bourgeoisie and the national bourgeoisie) of Chinese people mentioned in Mao’s “On the People’s Democratic Dictatorship

In the center of the photo, you’ll find “heiress and socialite” Charlotte Smith Mailliard Swig Shultz, wife of Famous Republican George P. Shultz – check out her bio.** Now, which star is for her? I’m thinking it’s the star representing the national bourgeoisie, but IDK for sure.

*The current communist or socialist states that include the words People’s Republic in their full names:

Historical examples include:

** CSMSS (born ca. 1934) is an American heiress and socialite. She is the Chief of Protocol for the state of California, and the Chief of Protocol for the City and County of San Francisco.[1] She is the wife of former United States Secretary of State George P. Shultz.[2] In 2007, she was named Honorary Commander of The Royal Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth II.

Golden State Warriors Modify Semi-Publicly-Financed Arena Proposal – Say Hello To My Little Friend!

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

Well the announcement is officially coming this AM, but Messrs. Matier und Ross already have the skivvy on the brand-new, slightly-more-NIMBY-friendly proposal.

And, here, check the latest illustrations.

From the former proposal, a silvery looming UFO with kayak access…

…to the new proposal, a slightly lower silvery looming UFO without kayak access:

So Warriors, take that 13% rate down to 3% and then you might have something, you might have a privately-financed stadium deal.

Now let’s review our waterfront proposals.

The America’s Cup deal was poorly-negotiated on purpose so we could pay for Larry Ellison’s ego trip. It’s an ongoing travesty.

And 8 Washington is corruption.

But this here arena proposal seems OK fine to me, more or less.

I’ll now invite the rich, property-owning NIMBYs of SoMA to move to Fairfield, where 15% of the houses are in foreclosure.

Hey, Look Who Supports the Golden State Warriors Waterfront Arena Plan: All These People – Today’s Big Rally

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

Well I suppose if the San Francisco Establishment wanted to claim that it had support “across the spectrum” for the arena deal, they’d have Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, Aaron Peskin and a whole bunch of San Francisco Giants baseball players up there with them on the steps of City Hall today.

But this group will have to do.

All the deets:

Would Christina Olague Have “Saved Rent Control?”

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

No, not at all.

So why did people hold a rally about former Interim Supervisor Christina Olague saving rent control?

On the steps of City Hall:

I know not.

Now, if you wanted to say that renters as a group, overall, would have been better off with a Christina Olague, or a John Rizzo, or a Julian Davis as Supervisor of District Five, well then you might have something…

I s’pose it doesn’t matter now.

District 5 Update: London Breed Campaign Crashes Christina Olague Rally at City Hall – “This is Sooo High School!”

Friday, November 2nd, 2012

Thursday’s rally for former sellout-Progressive Christina Olague got a boost from some of her foes.

Here comes the London Bus!

Orange = Olague, Blue = Breed

Late money is stupid money – it doesn’t get spent very efficiently, particularly in this district in this year.

What makes Ron Conway so smart? I mean, he got lucky once, being in the right place at the right time, right? What else are you going to do in your life, Con Ronway, to show that you just didn’t get lucky once? ‘Cause your efforts in D5 are a big fat joke, just saying.

And former Olague frenemy Debra Walker was on hand as well, at this event, as a supporter, as a bystander? Are we going to hear a new / different perjury story after the election? Mmmm…

The American Flag Burners of Critical Mass – These Colors Don’t Run, But They Do Catch on Fire Pretty Easily

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012

Here we go, at the foot of Market Street, near the first of a long line of stalled MUNI streetcars and buses.

Oh, it’s time to burn Old Glory:

Oh, what’s that? Focus? All right.

Dude was carrying an assortment of … devices?

There was a message written in blue on this particular flag, but I don’t know what it said. And there might have been a few skid marks on it as well.

Of course the SFPD was keeping an close eye on things, so they had some uniformed officers swoop in to recover the victim:

But only Gaia knows who brought this flag to CM and who set it afire.

I’ll note that most Critical Mass participants don’t burn American flags…
