Google Doodle Produced with SF Ballet
In celebration of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the Russian master composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Google has collaborated with San Francisco Ballet to create a special doodle that will appear on Google’s homepage today, May 7 at www.google.com, for one-day only.
Tchaikovsky, born on May 7, 1840, composed music for many genres, including opera, symphony and ballet, and created scores for some of the most beloved classics in the ballet repertoire, including Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and The Sleeping Beauty.
To honor Tchaikovsky’s contribution to the art form, Google worked with SF Ballet to stage a photo shoot around SF Ballet Artistic Director & Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson‘s production of Swan Lake. These shots were then rendered into a doodle by Google Doodler Jennifer Hom. For a behind-the-scenes peek of the photography session, shot by SF Ballet photographer Erik Tomasson, visit: www.sfballet.org/interact/watch.
