Explaining to the Employees of Yammer Microsoft How They’re Not Really “Giving Back” to the Mid-Market Area

Thursday, April 11th, 2013

I don’t know, you can look right here for one version of the story about why Yammer Microsoft is doing so, so, soooooo many great things for San Francisco.

Or you can ask Microsoft Yammer why it doesn’t want to pay its fair share of taxes.

Leave us begin.

In 2004, the Mayor of San Francisco signed a law that closed a tax loophole.

Later on, that very same Mayor took a lot of money from the owner owner of a building with which you Microsoft Yammerers should be familiar, the Twitter Building:

Prospective Twitter Landlord Gave Newsom Rent Deal

That kicked off the whole tax boondoggle that Microsoft Yammer is taking advantage of now.

Oh, here it is:

“THIS COMMUNITY BENEFIT AGREEMENT 2013 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING is made as of January 1, 2013 in the City and County of San Francisco, State of California, by and between YAMMER, A SUBSIDIARY OF MICROSOFT(“Microsoft”) and the CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO, a municipal corporation (“City”) acting by and through the City Administrator”

And it goes on and on talking about all the things that Microsoft is obligated to do for non-profit organizations that just happened to have endorsed Appointed Mayor Ed Lee.

So, well meaning white people who appear to be so, so, soooooo very proud of giving monitors worth (let’s hope) at least the contractually obligated $10,000 agreed to by MS….

….my question to you is this:

WHY DON’T YOU SIMPLY PAY YOUR FUCKING TAXES INSTEAD OF DOING ALL THIS POLITICALLY-CONNECTED, PAT-YOURSELF-ON-THE-BACK RIGMAROLE?

I’ll do all the legwork if you’ll give me some basic tax and income information. So maybe some years that could end up being a lot of money. I’d say, ooh, IPO! That’s going to cost Microsoft SF a few million bucks. And then you’d cut a check for the general fund.

There’d be no Ron Conway-type exception for you.

What’s that? You can’t afford to pay the oppressive taxes and loophole closures signed into law by the San Francisco Mayors of Yesteryear?

You know, I don’t believe that, Yammer Micro$oft.

What’s that, you’d rather move to Brisbane or someplace in San Mateo County?

Well, then be my guest. (You know, most people pricing apartment rentals in town lately would welcome your departure. You think I’m joking? No, I’m srlsy.)

What’s that, you like “giving back” to the corrupt Twitterloin, ’cause you think it’s a kewl thing to do and whatnot?

Fine, do that AND pay your fair share of taxes to the General Fund, why not?

That would be groovy.

But what you’re doing now is getting involved with SFGov corruption in the most corrupt big American city west of Chicago.

Just saying.

Oh, here’s some reading material to explain what you’re involved with, Microsoft. It’s from a time long before Yammer.

Enjoy your private-public neo-corporatism.

Here It Is: The First Ever S.F. Sheriff’s Newsletter – From Ross Mirkarimi – Poor Andrea Shorter! – Poor Ron Conway!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012

Let me tell you, there are two kinds of commission heads in the 415.

There’s the kind what graduates from real Harvard and actually shows some backbone and…

…the kind what goes to fake* Harvard and, actually, appears to be invertebrate.

Just saying.

Hey, speaking of Ross Mirkarimi, guess who’s settling into his new job.

See?

I’d give you a link to this newsletter but I don’t know how.

This guy might know tho:

Now, what’s left. Or should I say, what’s right, what’s a right-wing Republican billionaire like Ron Conway doing trying to make San Francisco bidness-friendly?

But oh no, now it appears he’s grown tried of politics?

Say it isn’t so!

Things, allegedly, were working out so well before, back when naive Ron Conway was spending money to elect and unelect Christina Olague AT THE SAME TIME. You’re not that politically astute, are you, Ron Conway?

Ah memories.

I’m sure Andrea Shorter the spineless jellyfish and Ron Conway the Decline To State Republican can figure something out over the coming weeks, months, years or decades.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to make do with Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.

*You make the call on this one. If you, a government functionary, sign up for and attend a 19-day course at Hahvard, would you later put the experience on your Linked In? I wouldn’t.

And if you, the high-level worker at Equality, labored there during that controversial period, would you put it on your Linked In? I wouldn’t relish doing that neither.

Anyway, have at it:

City Hall Goes Red and Green in a Different Way – To Honor Mexico? Italy? Ireland? Ron Conway? Baby Jesus?

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

First City Hall was all like this.

Like a week ago:

But now it’s all like this:

See the diff?

Doesn’t it look something like the flags of Mexico, Italy and/or Ireland?

Speaking of Ireland, hated Republican billionaire Ron Conway can trace some of his roots back there, right? So maybe he called up weak-willed* Interim Mayor Ed Lee with some lighting ideas.

It’s not impossible.

Like remember when Republican billionaire Ron Conway got caught trying to improperly influence SFGov over the issue of street parking spaces near the offices of Pinterest? And then he lied about it?

And these days he “declines to state” whether he’s a Republican or not?

You know, if I were straight white male Republican billionaire who was willing to spend millions to buy political influence to make San Francisco more Republican I’d be all, “Gosh darn it, I’m a straight white male Republican billionaire who is willing to spend millions to buy political influence to make San Francisco more Republican!”

You know, direct, instead of, I don’t know, weaselly.

Oh, this just in, here’s a vote for Italy.

*“We talked in your office a couple of weeks before you entered the race and you confided in me that you didn’t want to run, but that Rose Pak and Willie Brown were putting a lot of pressure on you to run and you didn’t know if you had the strength to resist them.

This graphic from Jenna Scatena’s piece looks interesting, anyway.

When Republican billionaire Ron Conway decided to make a project of making San Francisco less Democrat and more Republican, the first thing they told him to do was to unregister as a Republican.

Isn’t it ironic, dontcha think?

Monday, November 26th, 2012

Marc Benioff > Larry Ellison.

Marc Benioff > Republican Ron Conway.

Am I right, people?

So who’s left?

Anyway, this is becoming an annual tradition for Lynne and Marc Benioff – deets below.

District Five Meltdown: The Problems with the Three Front Runners – Christina Olague, London Breed and Julian Davis

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

[UPDATE: Yoops, this ended up not being the order of finish. Hey, perhaps Rose Pak is merely a paper dragon lady, powerless outside of the Realm of Stencil Voters and Oppressed (by Rose Pak et al) Newcomers? It's sure looking that way.]

In order of finish:

1. Back in the day, Christina Olague accepted the deal that Julian Davis and who-knows-who-else rejected. So that meant that she worked on the Run Ed Run campaign in exchange for the promise of later getting appointed as Supervisor of District Five.

Before, she was the Perjurer’s Helper, but is she now?

I don’t know. We’ll see.

IMO, her rise to power is (still, very possibly) a trap. We’ll see.

Despite recent events involving Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, Christina Olague is still the choice of Rose Pak, Randy Shaw and the rest of San Francisco’s corrupt, government-subsidized, non-profit cabal.

And, apparently, CO is NOT the choice of the Ron Coates / Linda Voight / Ron Conway / Gayle Conway / Republican billionaire / real estate interests side of Willie Brown’s / Ed Lee’s conservative (for San Francisco) Democratic party faction.

You see, there’s a schism, these days, that’s wide out in the open for all to see. So, one side of the faction supports Eric Mar and Christina Olague and the other side supports David Lee and London Breed.

Speaking of which:

2. London Breed is the choice of the Ron Coates / Linda Voight / Ron Conway / Gayle Conway / Republican billionaire / RE interests side of Willie Brown’s / Ed Lee’s conservative (for San Francisco) Democratic party faction.

As she states, she can’t tell the Republican Billionaires of the Bay Area et uxes to stop supporting her, but why would they be spending all that money?

Mmmm…

That leaves us with:

3. Julian Davis, who recently DNQ’ed

Joe, I want to clarify that when you called me yesterday you did not tell me what you were calling about and I did not receive a call back later in the day. I am not going to comment further about anonymous uncorroborated attacks coming from your publication a week before Election Day. Voters I talk to in the streets are intelligent enough to see past the politics of personal destruction. Their concerns are real—a more affordable city, improved public transit and a better climate for small business, to name a few. Your readers would benefit from substantive reporting on these issues and on how the candidates differ on them. Julian Davis

Pwned:

Julian –Shortly after noon yesterday, I phoned your lawyer and asked him about the letter. Immediately afterward, I called you. You said you were on another call and asked if this was urgent. I replied that you should call me back as soon as you could. You said you would, and I was left with the impression you would phone back when you were off your call. That didn’t happen, and I got your voicemail when I called you at 2 p.m. Sadly, you did not call us back before our story went up at 8:30 this morning. This most recent allegation is neither anonymous nor uncorroborated. While the accuser’s name is not printed in our article, it was most certainly affixed on the letters she sent to you and your attorney. I agree with you that our readers would benefit from reporting on “a more affordable city, improved public transit, and a better climate for small business.” I disagree with you that we aren’t reporting on these issues:

Sincerely yours, Joe Eskenazi

So that takes care of that.

Oh, and who else? Thea Selby should have taken steps after news of that $10k of RE money had spread. She didn’t. (Perhaps she’s the other candidate that Mayor Ed Lee is “privately” telling his inner circle to vote for? Mmmm.)

And it looks like John Rizzo made some sort of deal with Christina Olague or whomever functions as the Progressive version of Walter Wong these days. We’ll find out what his reward is apres-election.

That’s my best guess.

District Five Meltdown: Here’s the Entire Ad Against Christina Olague and Julian Davis and “Shell Oil”

Monday, November 5th, 2012

Oh, well, here’s the whole thing, or at least all of the back of the mailer.

(When they say Shell Oil, what they mean is Shell Energy North America.)

District Five Meltdown: Republican-Backed Hit-Piece Against Olague and Davis Features Solar-Powered Shell Station

Monday, November 5th, 2012

This is from the already-famous hit-piece mailer regarding Shell Energy and some candidates for District Five Supervisor.

Now, why did the dumb-clucks who made this ad decide to pick the world’s most solar-powered gas station?

I don’t know, because they don’t know what they’re doing?

District Five Meltdown: How Linda Voight and Ron and Gayle Conway Spend their Money to Make Olague and Davis Look Evil

Sunday, November 4th, 2012

This is how they do it, with a flyer in the mail talking about how Christina Olague and Julian Davis support  giving nearly $20,000,000 a year to Shell Oil.

See?

Now, is that true?

No.

But it appears that Christina Olague and Julian Davis have run afoul of a few PG&E-loving Bay Area billioniares, et uxes.

Now, I’d call this cabal Conway/Coates, but they, and I’m seriously, call themselves:

“San Francisco Women for Accountability and a Responsible Supervisor Opposing Christina Olague 2012.”

So that’s SFWFAAARSOCA 2012 for short, sort of.

Here’s Tim Redmond’s take:

So-called DV group doing PG&E’s dirty work

Fair ‘nough.

But hey, do you see the orange skies up there, right where the heads of the progressive D5 front-runners have been Photoshopped?

Mmmm…

Hey, I know, let’s take Linda Voight and Photoshop her into a shot of the Great PG&E Pipeline explosion of San Bruno.

Thusly.

I see dead people:

Now doesn’t she look evil?

I think so.

District 5 Update: London Breed Campaign Crashes Christina Olague Rally at City Hall – “This is Sooo High School!”

Friday, November 2nd, 2012

Thursday’s rally for former sellout-Progressive Christina Olague got a boost from some of her foes.

Here comes the London Bus!

Orange = Olague, Blue = Breed

Late money is stupid money – it doesn’t get spent very efficiently, particularly in this district in this year.

What makes Ron Conway so smart? I mean, he got lucky once, being in the right place at the right time, right? What else are you going to do in your life, Con Ronway, to show that you just didn’t get lucky once? ‘Cause your efforts in D5 are a big fat joke, just saying.

And former Olague frenemy Debra Walker was on hand as well, at this event, as a supporter, as a bystander? Are we going to hear a new / different perjury story after the election? Mmmm…

On It Goes…
