We welcome all women riders of different age groups, ethnicities and backgrounds. We are a tight knit group of women who support each other on and off the road. Requirements are only that you display a desire to ride, be trustworthy, respectful toward all our other brothers and sisters and  define this sisterhood to be an addition of your already existing family. 
We do have a prospecting period which has been put in place for us to get to know you and you to get to know us. This lifestyle and Sisterhood may come easy to some but not to all.
As women we encourage other women to get out there and ride, have fun, get to know one another and expand your circle of friends.
The Vixens also spend a lot of time together not just riding but with our families doing other things off the road such as camping, days at the park and special holidays. This is not just a club, it’s our family.
So regardless of your interests if you enjoy riding we welcome one and all to join us. We ride all the time and whether 2 of us, 4 of us, or all of us you can bet we are having fun and that’s what it’s all about! “

A Brief History of the Mavericks Big Wave Surf Contest

I’ll you, ten years from now, you’ll hear about some underground event what’s been gaining in popularity and I’ll bet you it will have gotten its start on one of these Bay Area beaches that you can see in the photo.

Anyway, Mavs is on, once again, this coming Friday, January 24th, 2014.

Now back in the day, to see Mavericks you’d just park you ride on the Pacific Coast Highway and then ride your bikes to the beach. Easy peasy.

And then they’d let you climb up on the bluff for a good view (even though people fell off of it all the time).

And then they didn’t want people on the bluff so they put up an “event village” or something on the beach below.

Dangerous hilarity ensued, due to what they called a “sneaker wave,” but really it was just kind of a regular wave

The Craziest Billboard Ever: “Visit Beautiful Island! Dodko, Korea!” – Insincerely Looming Over the I-80 in SoMA

All right, here we go:

“The Liancourt Rocks … are a group of small islets in the Sea of Japan.”

Visiting these rocks for just 20 minutes, maximum, would involve a two lengthy flights* and then a 14-hour round-trip boat ride.

So this billboard, which is getting a lot of attention in South Korea, isn’t to promote tourism, it’s to promote politics:

So it’s just like this one** (that used to be near AT&T Park?) that was put up by a Yelp three-star dentist from San Jose, who*** probably charges too much money if he has the spare cash to produce ineffectual billboards like these.

Which is fair enough.

I s’pose.

Now the thing about the “East Sea” is that every sea is an east sea, right? So we should rename the Atlantic Ocean the East Ocean because that’s how it seems from our perspective? And without Japan, the Sea of Japan would just be the Pacific Ocean, right?

All right, I’ll just sit back and wait for the invasion of the Liancourt Rocks, which is never going to happen, but if it did, it would go a little something like this.

I’ll ask you, have you ever been to a bad Cirque du Soleil?

Now, supposedly we had a bad one blow through town a few years back down at the Cow Palace. Your local MSM Arts crew was non-enthusiastic – not all of them wanted to go review it, see?  So comped tickets made it all the way down to people involved with lesser blogs, such as your truly.

And I’ll tell you, C du S in that ugly, ugly Daly City concrete blockhouse was awesome. They had like 17 bits to do and 16 of them were very impressive or better. And keep in mind that this was an older show that was put on not under the big tent.

So now we have a brand new show coming to town starting November 15th, 2013.

The time to buy tickets for it is right now. You’ll thank yourself later on.
