San Francisco Celebrity Product Endorsement: Frank Chu, the Former Quiznos Man, at the Chevron McDonalds – Market Street

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

This Micky D’s is in one of the former Chevron Buildings on Market in the Financh / South of Market Area. It even has a fake gas pump inside. (And yet McDonalds promotes Shell these days, go figure.)

Anyway, you can find Frank Chu here like multiple times per day. If that’s not a product endorsement, I don’t know what is.

Back in the day, Quiznos used to pay Frank to have its name on his Famous Sign – you’ll learn about that in colledge, Marketing 101

Here’s the Ad that PG&E is Running on YouTube to Oppose a Little Competition – Before Bieber, You Must Watch This

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

So PG&E and former PG&E workers now employed at the CPUC are upset because the paltry $300,000,000 that it’s going to have to “send to Sacramento” as punishment for killing eight people in San Bruno? Well, gee, if I were in charge, it would be $1,000,000,000 and if these interested parties started yammering about “giving” all that money “to the Legislature,” then I’d say fine, just withdraw it in cash, put it in a field and then burn it.

Fine.

Just anything to teach you a lesson, PG&E.

So you have Appointed Mayor Ed Lee in your back pocket, and you have former Mayor Willie Brown acting as one of your lobbyists. Good for you, PG&E! But it doesn’t mean that you’re not the worst large utility in America.

Think on that, you Pigs, Giraffes, and Elephants.

Anywho, before you can see a Justin Bieber video on the YouTube, this is what you have to watch these days. And that’s per some dude on Twitter, so you can bank on it. But I saw it afore some other video so there’s that.

Now officially, this ad is from PG&E’s house union, but we all know it’s from PG&E. (PG&E can’t exactly do this kind of ad itself, it’s not allowed.)

Here it is:

Of course, you’ll have the option of opting out of public power, so what’s the big deal?

PRADA Makes a Mockery of the America’s Cup Safety Review Committee – Foiling Past Larry Ellison’s Paper Tiger

Monday, May 20th, 2013

Here’s the latest from the Larry Ellison People:

We appreciate the vote of confidence Mr. Bertelli, president of Luna Rossa Challenge, gave to the America’s Cup continuing as planned this summer on San Francisco Bay,”

Uh no. What you’re getting from Mr. Bertelli is NOT a vote of confidence.

In fact, it’s the opposite.

Let me show y0u. The Larry Ellison Safety Review Committee, which, of course, is reviewing, not investigating, oh no, never investigating, perish the thought, the safety issues created by, can you guess, anyone, anyone, that’s right, Larry Ellison, issued this statement last week:

“…teams have been asked to suspend all sailing in AC72 and AC45 catamarans until the middle of next week.”

Hey, how do you say “fuck you, Larry Ellison,” you know, en Italiano?

I think you say it like this:

Hey, is the SFPD doing a possible homicide investigation right about now? I think so. Think on that, Larry Ellison People. Think on that while trying to figure out how the very same “America’s Cup Family” that has brought us, already, the worst AC in history, is going to investigate itself, I’m sorry, review itself in a fair an impartial way.

Hey, doesn’t the Safety Review Committee have a whole mess of conflicts? Would you like me to list them for you? (Pillow Talk: “Hey Honey, do you think…”)

And that Artemis “Big Red” AC72 _didn’t_ fold up, as reported, “like a taco shell?”  So how did it fold up? Like a chalupa? Oh, what’s that, it didn’t fold up at all? Is that what you’re saying?

The former Big Red upon San Francisco Bay, as seen last year, a ticking time bomb that went off this month, more expensive than some of the jetliners that flew above it, and more expensive and about as tall as some jetliners are long. And yet if you were killed flying to Vegas there’d be a big big investigation, right? And what’s the response from the Larry Ellison People? It’s if you want to make an omelette, you’re going to have to break some eggs.

Now let’s hear from an AC72 crew member:

“I hope like hell that whoever survives this thing and wins it changes the boat class to anything safer than these God-forsaken death traps.”

Here’s What the Artemis Racing AC72 America’s Cup Yacht Looked Like Getting Hauled Out – Folded Up “Like a Taco Shell”

Saturday, May 11th, 2013

You can see  a little bit of the port hull and also the places where it ripped away:

Hauling out Artemis AC72 by Turtle Moon World

From the Newcastle Herald:

‘Nathan told me [the turn] didn’t seem any different to any other occasion,’’ Mr Outteridge said.

‘‘The bow dug in a little bit but he said that’s not unusual.

‘‘The next thing he heard a cracking noise and the boat went on its side.

‘‘Before it capsized it snapped in half, Nathan described it as folding like a taco shell.’’

And:

“A quick head count revealed one member of the crew was missing – Andrew Simpson – triggering a desperate search.

The British two-time Olympic gold medallist was trapped underwater, wedged underneath ‘‘a few tonnes’’ of carbon fibre, frantically trying to free himself.

His crew members could see him, fighting for his life and dived beneath the water to try to set him free.

They  handed the man they called ‘‘Bart’’ emergency oxygen bottles – which hold about 10 breaths each – in a bid to keep him alive in the hope rescue crews would arrive in time.

Isn’t It Ironic, PG&E’s Captive Union has the Gall to Use Fire Imagery to Fight Public Power? You Know, After San Bruno?

Wednesday, February 20th, 2013

Here’s the latest from the the union for our incompetent local power utility, straight outta Vacaville, wherever the Hell that is:

Is this an image from the charred remains of all those houses that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers / PG&E burned down in San Mateo County not too long ago? It sure could be, why not?

Take a look.

Oh what’s that, PG&E, it took you a while to own up to being responsible for killing those eight people?

“The cause of the Sept. 9, 2010, accident has not been determined yet.”

What kind of denial is this, months and months after your killings?

You know, these people? ‘

James Franco, 53 and “Janessa, 13, and Jacqueline Greig, 44; Elizabeth Torres, 81; Jessica Morales, 20, as well three member of the Bullis family — Greg, 50, Will, 17, and Lavonne, 87 “

Here’s the thing, PG&E. Everybody has the right to opt out of PublicPowerSF. So that’s why it’s not going to “nearly double electric generation costs.”

Not everybody in Chinatown is an easily cowed, easily herded stencil voter, right? Consumers will make their own choice – you don’t think that they’re all stupid, do you?

And actually, San Francisco is kind of a hippy town, filled with yuppie-types who will not opt out of public power.

But, of course, if people don’t want to pay extra for juice, they won’t.

It’s as simple as that.

BTW, you all should prolly ID the white Republican lawyer you’re quoting in the ‘Xam here. Otherwise it makes things look like the entire Examiner is agin public power.

The flip side of the latest flyer:

In closing, fuck you PG&E.

Go to Hell.

Or flaming San Bruno, little difference.

A Few Questions for Corrupt PG&E and Its Corrupt Union Regarding the Coming Clean Power Alternative, CleanPowerSF

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

I’m getting the feeling that our local utility monopoly doesn’t want any competition at all.

Take a look here at this bit from Chris Roberts of SFWeeklySFBayGuardianSFExaminer and then take a look at this:

Now let’s check the “Check the Facts” part of this recent flier.

The retort:

1. CleanPowerSF will not cost “almost double” relative to the current PG&E monopoly. So that’s a lie

2. And are you PG&E motherfuckers really talking about some disaster in some part of the world? What about the eight souls you killed right here in the Bay Area in San Bruno not too long ago? How many “brothers” or sisters of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers were responsible for those deaths?

3. And actually, consumers, you DO get to choose whether you participate in CleanPowerSF, so the “PG&E family” is lying about that as well.

So, fuck you, PG&E

Good day, “brothers.”

Surprise! The PG&E Union Doesn’t Want Us to Have a Choice About Getting Public Power or Not – A Facebook Campaign

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Last week I saw banner ads from IBEW 1245, you know, the People Who Brought Us The San Bruno Pipeline Explosion, but at first I wasn’t able to click on them and then when I was able to, all I could find were recently-deceased FaceBook webpages, as if some people had posted something* and then changed their minds.

But now everything’s clear owing to this bit from Tim Redmond in the SFBG. Check it out.

And here’s the latest propaganda from PGE IBEW, for the record:

IBEW 1245 launches “Shell Shock” campaign. Disastrous city proposal could cause rates to spike

shell shocked logo

IBEW Local 1245 launched a “Shell Shock” campaign on Sept. 10 to highlight the spike in energy costs and potentially disastrous consequences that a contract between San Francisco and Shell would bring.

San Francisco city government is considering a proposal to partner with Shell Energy of North America to inaugurate the city’s so-called “clean power” program. If the Board of Supervisors approves the proposal, San Francisco would pay millions to Shell, one of the most notorious environmental violators in business today.

According to the City’s Controller, if the San Francisco Shell Shock contract goes through:

“Raising generation rates by 77% would Shell Shock San Franciscans,” said Hunter Stern, a San Francisco resident and a business representative for IBEW Local 1245 in San Francisco.

“In these tough economic times, the last thing the City should be considering is a plan that would lead to service reductions and job losses. And Shell’s values, especially their abysmal environmental record, aren’t in sync with what most San Franciscans want to support,” Stern said.

CARE customers, who are typically low-income customers, are being asked to pay a larger portion of the increase than other customers. CARE customers will pay an additional $22 a month, compared to the $9 monthly increase Tier One customers are expected to see, Stern said.

IBEW Local 1245 urges San Franciscans to get the facts and sign the petition to stop the San Francisco Shell Shock contract. Go to www.Facebook.com/SFShellShock.”

*Perhaps due to the San Bruno Disaster anniversary? I mean, why else would PG&E have its union launch a big FaceBook campaign and then have all the links from the banner ads go to defunct FB pages?

America’s First Solar Powered Gas Station: The Shell at 444 Divisadero Betwixt Oak and Fell

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

You, people love to complain about the low-cost ARCO right next door, but this Shell station at the corner of Divisadero and Oak in the EaPA doesn’t get criticized one bit.

Don’t know why.

Anyway, here they are, all those solar panels, facing more west than south, IMO:
