And San Francisco’s Worst Parkers are the Drivers of … Smart Cars – Here’s Why – “FIRST TO PARK…WINS”

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

When Smart Cars started showing up in the 415, what I thought we’d see was:

1. Smart Car tipping (Naughty naughty!); and

2. French-style, nose-to-the-curb parking

But what we’ve gotten is just bad parking, like this.

Why’s that? Well, it has to do with the attitude of ” I can park it anywhere!”

So the smartCar drivers come home to Russian Hill at 10:00 PM and then they find nowhere to park and then they  park their rides illegally.

You see, it’s the lofty expectations what makes them bad parkers.

Supervisor Scott Wiener to Address San Francisco’s Streetlight Issue Today at 10 AM in City Hall

Monday, June 4th, 2012

Per Supervisor Scott Wiener:

On Monday, 10 AM, I’ll be holding a hearing in City Hall to discuss our streetlights and the need to improve them & make them more reliable.”

I suppose he’s talking about stuff like this and this, but I wonder why Market Street looks like this at night lately, with all the street lights off from the Financh to troubled Mid-Market to the Twitterloin and beyond:

(Hey, remember when our former man-child of a Mayor, that former scion, remember when he turned on a streetlight in the Twitterloin using his iPhone? Now, looking back, did that help at all? No it didn’t. Obviously not. But it made his day and he wanted to share. That’s what he thought was Governance. Oh well.)

Anyway, please, City Hall, turn off the dark.

Parking Your Motorcycle on the Sidewalk: It’s Your Right as a San Franciscan

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Or not – you could very easily get a ticket for this kind of thing.

But if you live here a while, you’ll learn when it’s OK to do bad things. You know, like double-parking next to a church on the Lord’s Day.

But if you’re a visitor you end up with parking tickets.

Or you end up getting shot in the head like that German tourist lady when she was near the Tenderloin.

Or you end up getting run over by a drunk driver like that German tourist guy when he was on Masonic.

It’s tough not knowing the rules and customs of insular San Francisco.

Oh well.
