Our SFPUC Makes Everybody a Superhero – Somehow – Marketing “CleanPowerSF”

20161025_162704-copy

(ClearChannel cleaned up all this glass. which I hadn’t noticed, the next day, but this bus stop gets attacked often, oh well.)

IDK, SFPUC – if everybody’s a superhero then nobody’s a superhero, right?

Lemme just say I don’t understand/am confused by the following on this page:

“Community over Profits” [A Capital “P,” right, Comrades?]

“Because CleanPowerSF is not-for-profit…” [Our SFPUC is a not-for-profit?]

“Your choice will localize energy, create jobs and stabilize energy prices.” [Doesn’t PG&E “create” jobs too? “Stabilize?”]

“Small Premium, Big Impact” [Or Big Premium, Small Impact? Just saying.]

“SuperGreen pay the applicable Green rate plus an additional $0.02/kWh.” [SuperGreen – who dat?]

“That’s a small investment with big returns for the environment and the local community.” [Or extremely small returns?]

“Upgrade your service to SuperGreen…” [But it’s the same service though, right? It’s the same juice from PG&E, right?]

And what’s up with the rates for regular PG&E v. Non-SuperGreen?

capturedfsdfs-copy

So, best case scenario is that, after a monthly PG&E fee you gotta pay to NOT have PG&E, a “typical” bill will be $66.40, as opposed to … $66.40?

Note that I rounded the numbers there, to the nearest nickel. Speaking of which, why not round PG&E’s percentage up to 30%, you know, why not?

Hey SFPUC, your desks inside the windmill building in Civic Center cost $20 grand each? Hey, is that “sustainable?” Oh, yes, and no? Hey, how about financially?

So many questions about the CleanPowerSF…

Multiple, Multiple COYOTE ADVISORY Signs, Telegraph Hill, Frisco

Thursday, August 11th, 2016

They mostly come at night, mostly, I assume, since I’ve never seen one in the daytime.

(Here are the older signs, for the record.)

Anyway, I don’t know how much more our SFGov can do, you know, than what they’re already doing. These critters were here before us and they’ll be here after we’re gone.

Get used to it…

Google Maps Changes San Francisco’s “Calle Broadway” Back to Plain Old Broadway – Hurray! – Yesterday’s Death of Map Maker

Tuesday, May 12th, 2015

This is how things looked on the Google Maps last week:

Captureffdf copy

But now it’s back to regular old Broadway.

I don’t know if this change was made by hand down in Mtn View – I suspect it was – or if the recent changes to Map Makr did the trick.

I’m thinking the GMaps ppl agree with me on this one.

Perhaps somebody thought our history of being a possession of Spain or a part of Mexico should be reflected in all street names, IDK. (Here’s a little history on Spanishtown and Dagoville (the Sunset and the Richmond together, basically.))

On It Goes…

Why Does Google Maps Call San Francisco’s Broadway “Calle Broadway?” – It’s a Mystery

Here it is:

Making things easier for tourists/foreigners/newcomers would be just one good reason for Google to stop doing stuff like this…

Now that we speak the same language, see how you would have handled this super-sad MUNI bus fight on the 30. Myself, I would have placed my burly frame betwixt them, giving them both a chance to save face and shut up…

Know Your Inchoate Labor Protests: Tomorrow’s Planned Commercial Office Waste Protest at City Hall Canceled

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

For some reason.

I’ll tell you, those canceled protests are oftentimes more interesting than the ones that go forward…

Check it:

“Commercial Office Buildings Missing the Mark in San Francisco’s Efforts to Achieve Zero Waste

Labor, Environmental Leaders to Release Report Outlining How Commercial Office Buildings Can Achieve True Zero Waste by 2020

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – POSTPONED members the BlueGreen Alliance and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 87 will join with local labor, environmental and civic leaders to release and show support for the report

Making Zero Mean Zero: Waste Diversion in San Francisco’s Commercial Office Buildings.

Findings in the report reveal actions at some of the city’s commercial buildings are hampering the city’s efforts to achieve zero waste and the report outlines recommendations to achieving true zero waste by 2020 — a goal of the city.

The report was prepared by the BlueGreen Alliance — a national partnership of unions and environmental organizations representing 14 million members and supporters.

WHAT: Labor, environmental, and civic leaders call for commercial office buildings owners in San Francisco to reduce waste and increase recycling. The event will feature Spanish speakers.
WHO: BlueGreen Alliance California Director Lisa Hoyos, SEIU Local 87 President Olga Miranda, SEIU Local 87 Members, Supervisor John Avalos (District 11), Interim Supervisor Christina Olague (District 5)
WHEN: POSTPONED
WHERE: In front of San Francisco City Hall”

So, do I think we’re going to have a million electric cars on the road by 2015, as was pledged? Nope!

And do I think that 10% of all trips in San Francisco will be made by bicycle by 2010? Oh, wait, we missed that one already – that got pushed back to 2020, when 20% of all trips made in San Francisco will be made by bicycle, for sure, like totally man, like guaranteed. (And then when that doesn’t happen, the new goal will be 30% of all trips made in San Francisco being made by bicycle by the year 2030.) Anyway, nope!

And now, do I think that all the commercial office buildings of San Francisco will produce “true zero waste” by 2020? Nope!

Anyway, don’t go to City Hall at 11:30 AM tomorrow cause nothing’ll be going on…
