As seen on the Streets of San Francisco:
And I don’t know what the (mostly white, mostly male, and highly Eurocentric) “urbanists” have been telling you, but vehicle registration in Frisco has never been higher (and this doesn’t even include all the cars on our streets that should be registered in CA but aren’t).
So sure, Lyft Uber ZipCar & Millennials Don’t Even Want Cars etc., sure.
But alls I’m saying is that the number of cars in SF isn’t going down, not at all. And let’s wait and see how DMV’s 2015 numbers look, when the time comes.
I mean, think about it. You can afford to move to Frisco but you can’t afford a car and a place to keep it, not even a used Yaris? What kind of lifestyle do you think these people have, those people who think, oh small fixer-upper in Noe for $1.5 million let’s BUY BUY BUY? It’s the kind that entails lots of social engagements and traveling about, so let’s buy/lease a Mini Cooper or a Prius.
If San Francisco even had a mediocre big city transit system, maybe things would be different. But we don’t so oh well.
So bring on the VW’s and the Honda Civicses.
And, specially in the the Western Addition and areas even further west, and also down in the southern reaches of town, bring on the pickups and SUV’s.
