Unloved Marissa Mayer Signage has “Taken a Beating” in Golden Gate Park – And Now Area Yahoo Uses Buffalo Paddock Sign as a Bottle Opener

Wednesday, June 15th, 2016

Get up to speed here, from a couple years ago.

I still don’t know what people are doing to this sign in the Buffalo Paddock* in Golden Gate Park. I don’t think the vandals mind her donating money – what, like $50,000? But I think they don’t like the idea of the thank you sign being planted here. Just a WAG.

Anyway, here it is, taking another beating, this time to pop the top off of a beer bottle, or three:

Maybe Rec and Park should melt down this rusty sign for reuse and then somehow thank Marissa Mayer and Zachary Bogue some other way?

*Or is it Bison Paddock? I can’t keep up.

Is This the Marissa Mayer / Zack Bogue Cast-Iron Bison Paddock Sign that has “Taken a Beating?”

Here you go:

Marissa Mayer And David Sacks Are Backing San Francisco’s Bison

“Bradshaw tells us he later saw the sign a bit worse for wear, having ‘taken a beating.’ Weird. Who dislikes bison?”

And here’s the sign in question, I think. It’s on the east end of the paddock, on JFK in GGP. And it’s cast iron, I think. Pretty indestructible, IMO. It’s the color of iron oxide:

It’s a little bit lighter in color on the left side, but otherwise it looks A-OK to me, condition-wise.

Anyway, I don’t know what “taken a beating” means.

Outrageous: Cans of Beer Confiscated at Bay to Breakers – Hide Your PBR at Masonic!

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

I never thought I’d live to see the day when cans of beer would be confiscated at the Bay to Breakers footrace. I mean, bottles and kegs, sure, but harmless aluminum cans?

Well, that’s what’s happening at the 99th Annual. A thin blue line of eight SFPD officers has been stretched across the eastern crosswalk of Fell and Masonic – they’re just taking the brew right out of your hands. Some escape this dragnet, but most do not.

Popo shut us down. Thusly:

Courage.

*Or Singer. One of them. I’ll tell you, I don’t know if local Police Chief George Gascon and premier spinmeister Sam Singer are more intelligent than Fong and Fang (Heather and Angela, respectfully), but the new people in charge this year sure are smarter, it would seem. Defter, if that’s a word.
