When Crybaby Millionaire Homeowners of the Western Addition Say That Bay To Breakers TRASHED Their Neighborhood, This is What They MeanMonday, May 16th, 2016
This is pretty much the worst of it here, on Fell just north* of the Golden Gate Park Panhandle:
I’ll tell you, these generally wealthy, wizened, whites were more upset about BtoB back when some of them were temporarily upside down on their mortgages, say right around 2008-2010, but now things have improved for them so they’re less irate.
Still, they wake up and talk about how trashed things are, how oppressed they is.
And actually, this was one of the Fell Street party houses, so this is about as bad as things get anywho.
(All right, I gotta go. I’m closing a deal on a condo right under final approach for the long runways at SFO. And the funny thing is that I HATE HATE HATE airplane noise, but I figure I’ll start complaining so much that they’ll have to close down the whole airport and then my property’s value will climb. Anyway, that’s my plan – wish me luck! Oh, just joking. Hey, is now A Good Time To Buy? IDK. IDTS, but IDK. If you’re going to plant yourself for 30 years, then the answer is probably yes…)
*Really this is actual NoPA (North of Panhandle Area), which some people, and I’m srsly, now call West NoPA. But actually, NoPA is actually northeast of the Panhandle, so what these people are saying is west of north of east of the Panhandle, more or less, which is a little crazy but that’s how we roll in 2016
RAT PATROL UPDATE: Rec and Park Takes Away Trash Cans at the Panhandle Playground, But Citizens Simply Replace Them with Garbage BagsThursday, February 4th, 2016
You know, for better or worse.
Get up to speed on this pressing matter right here, but TRIGGER WARNING: Rats!
Oh Look, No More Garbage Cans at the Golden Gate Park Panhandle Playground – Why? – Rats – Lots and Lots and Lots of RatsWednesday, February 3rd, 2016
Bye bye new-school garbage cans – this is the west side, near Oak and Clayton, and the one on the east side of the playground just recently disappeared as well.
Why? Because of all the roof rats. I hear tales of ppl seeing up to ten together, scrambling around, generally in the evening hours. Oh here’s the best shot I have at this particular location, taken from far away:
Speaking of tails, if you see a rat with a tail longer than its body and you’re in Frisco, then you’re looking at a roof rat (Rattus rattus, I’m srsly), which is your basic black rat, I s’pose (as opposed to your Norway rat and whathaveyou)
And here’s what wants to eat it/them at the Panhandle Playground:
So I suppose the closest trash can is now on the bike path near Fell and Ashbury (or maybe inside the Panhandle Bathroom, but I’ve never ventured inside there).
How SFGov Profits from Human Nature: Hundreds of Dollars of Street Sweeping Tickets Issued on One Short BlockThursday, April 16th, 2015
Our SFMTA issued st least three tickets on this short block the other day, you know, to punish people for blocking a street cleaning machine.
Here’s the Before, with an ugly, ugly trash-strewn street…
…and here’s the After, with the newly-beautiful* street:
What a difference!
Hurray! Hurray for SFGov.
(IRL, this is SFGov reacting to market discipline. If it made this much money per minute rehabbing addicts, it would spend a lot more time and effort rehabbing addicts…)
*Actually, this short block, and this one only, was recently repaved, a few years back, right before an election, and it happens to be the block where a long-time leader of a long-time community group just happens to reside, and I thought, where are we, Chicago West? That’s just what I thought, I don’t know why this block got repaved before others in the Western Addition. As I said, it’s kind of random….
The Simple Joy of Playing Your First Round of Street Tetherball in the Western Addition Northeast of the PanhandleMonday, March 16th, 2015
Look for San Francisco Chronicle writer and long-time east bay resident CW “Get Off My Lawn“ Nevius* to decry this type of vandalism, you know, after getting contacted, once again, by Yet Another SFGov Department Head.
Oh, our youth, won’t somebody please decry our youth, won’t somebody please harp against the externalizes they generate while consistently ignoring the externalizes generated by older people, such as our Favorite Writer From The East Bay. Oh well, more street clean-up work for DPW:
“[Appointed Mayor Ed] Lee has placed Nuru in charge of a city department with a $129 million city budget and 1,200 employees, despite Nuru’s proven history of directing his subordinates to illegally campaign for his mayoral benefactors. You couldn’t even make this stuff up, and even Examiner columnist Melissa Griffin flatly calls the move “stupid.”
Perhaps CWNevius is overcompensating for his and his generation’s crimes of the past?
*And that’s just the past month!
All the deets on this “emergency” cleanup that will occur today, July 21st, 2014
“There is a lot of trash littering the streets of Japantown following the massive crowds of 100.000+ visitors this past weekend for the J-Pop Summit and Ramen Yokocho Festival. If you are available, please join other concerned members of the Japantown community TONIGHT as we pitch in to clean up the trash on the streets. We’ll be meeting at Japantown Peace Plaza starting at 6pm and will provide disposable gloves and trash bags. Any help or additional cleaning supplies or equipment you can contribute would be greatly appreciated.
Event organizers are unable to completely clean up the mess, although they are providing steam cleaning for the sidewalks where ramen vendors were situated.
Let’s take care of our community together and clean up Japantown! Thank you so much to everyone coming to help tonight.”
