Actor Vince Vaughn plays an engine designer in Ron Howard’s upcoming film called The Dilemma, O.K. fine. But people are upset at the following line, uttered when the Vince Vaughn character makes a pitch to a car company:
“Electric cars are gay. I mean not homosexual gay, but, you know, my-parents-are-chaperoning-the-dance gay.”
Well, GLAAD wasn’t happy about that, so Universal Pictures yanked these lines from the trailer promoting the movie.
Except in San Francisco, where they didn’t. So, the Metreon Theatre, as of yesterday, still uses the original trailer with the offending line intact.
So much for the promises of Hollywood…

And speaking of broken promises coming out of Tinseltown, when are they going to get around to fixing the steps of Alta Plaza, you know, the ones that got damaged during the filming of What’s Up, Doc back in the 1970′s?
Maybe someday.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown can’t abide goddamn record companies that fix prices. (Feel free to read that as record companies, straight up.) Anyway, when you bought all those Rico Suave CDs back in the day, you paid too much.
Can I tell you how this all relates to the big scheme of things? No, I get my record co. antitrust lawsuits mixed up. But this whole deal probably had something to do with bad behavior by execs from Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and/or EMI Group.
But that doesn’t matter now. What matters that these melon-farmers are going to own up for past misdeeds by paying for statewide music festivals.

Brown and Arts Council Host Statewide Music Festivals Funded by a Price-Fixing Settlement
SACRAMENTO -Yodeling, operas, musicals, Japanese drumming and symphonies are among the summer events around the state sponsored by more than a half million dollars from a Department of Justice settlement with music companies in a case of fixing advertised prices.
Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. and the California Arts Council today announced dozens of musical presentations during this summer’s festival season and throughout 2010. Visit the California Arts Council’s website for a full listing of concerts and events benefiting from the grants:

“The Attorney General’s office is proud to be part of providing these cultural events that bring people together to experience all types of music. The grants support performances and events in 43 of the state’s 58 counties, reaching an estimated audience of 200,000.

After famous Conan O’Brien performed at his “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour 2010“ at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium on April 22-23 he headed south down to San Joser. But on the way, he managed to put in a visit to Google’s HQ in Mountain View. O.K. then.
Well, he was simply delighted with Google’s Japanese-made Toto toilets. Check the YouTube.

Oh, it’s on. It’s going to be Coco a Gogo when Conan O’Brien’s “half-assed“ 32-city “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour 2010“ comes to the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium April 22-23. It’ll be just like 2007 all over again.
“Full Price Tickets” from TicketMonster are going right now for $74, all up. And for just $695 you can get in on the Meet and Greet Package- wouldn’t you like a photo of you and Conan to put on the FaceBook for all your “friends” to see? Sure you would.
I don’t know, maybe you can score some cheaper ticks by using your AmEx card or going to the box office or something.

Perhaps after Trauma gets cancelled by the suits at NBC, Hollywood could come back to town to remake Full House, excepting they could use these residences instead one of the Seven Sisters of Alamo Square.
They could call it Full Houses or something. Then some director dude in a baseball cap could talk about how he considers the houses themselves to be characters (before or after he ID’s hisself as a “story teller” or a “teller of stories”, you know the drill)
