Craigslist to Sponsor Bay to Breakers 2013 – All the Deets – Conservative Denver Billionaire + Craig Newmark = ???

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013

Observations:

1. Hey, does christian activist Phillip Anschutz still own AEG? I think so. And AEG still owns the Bay to Breakers civic street party and fun run? And Obama donor Craig Newmark / Craigslist just made a sponsoring deal with B2B? How does that square? I mean, I’m seeing “April 1st, 2013″ here. Am I missing something? You pay money to advertise a job on craigslist and it goes to Mr. Burns IRL in Colorado so he can use it to attack the concept of evolution? Mmmm…

2. Here’s something – one time Craig Newmark had to admonish “craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster” for celebrating the vandalization of my Toyota after it got messed up on Ashbury. That was a like a decade ago, just saying. Ill tell you, that Jim Buckmaster isn’t your typical wealthy millionaire CEO-type. Anyway, it cost me $200 and State Farm like $2600, oh well.

3. Back before Google semi-censored naughty images, this shot here was the number image result in Google Images when people searched for the phrase Bay to Breakers. The problem was that a local money-making sports website claimed it as its own. That was going too far, IMO. Had to put my foot down on that one.

Celebrating the Return of Dog-Dish Hub Caps: New VW Beetle with “Heritage” Alloy Wheels

Friday, October 12th, 2012

You see in my day, people’d be putting wheel covers to make simple steal wheels look like aluminum or magnesium alloys.

But these days VW is offering wheel covers on top of alloy wheels to make them look like old-school hub caps on steel wheels.

See? Here are your 17″ heritage alloy wheels on a 1013 VW Beetle:

San Francisco Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects who kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman at approximately 3:30am on August 7, 2010.

The 25 year old victim was standing at Van Ness and California at 3:30am on August 7, 2010, when she was approached by three men driving in a black VW Golf, hatchback-style vehicle. The victim agreed to a ride with the suspects, back to her hotel in the South of Market area. As the victim attempted to get out of the vehicle, one of the men pulled her back in the car as the driver sped off. The victim was dragged for a short distance, driven to a remote area near Cesar Chavez and the 101 Freeway and sexually assaulted. The victim suffered injuries to her feet, legs and neck. She was treated for her injuries and released.

The three suspects told the victim that they were from San Jose and were celebrating one of the men’s 18th birthday.

The victim was able to assist in creating a sketch for two of the suspects. They are described as:

1. “Oscar“, Hispanic male, 18-25 yrs., 5’6″, 145 lbs., wearing dark baseball hat, black “Ed Hardy” shirt with lettering across neck.

2. “Johnny“, HM, 5’7″, 150 lbs., dark fade-like haircut, wearing olive green buttoned shirt

3. Unknown, HM, 21-22, heavy set, with dark wavy hair (driver of vehicle)

Vehicle description:

2002-2005, BLACK, VW Golf, 4-dr., hatchback.

Police are seeking assistance from the public, who may be able to identify these suspects or who may have information regarding this incident. Police encourage anyone who believes that they have been the victim of a sexual assault to report it to the police or respond to the San Francisco Rape Treatment Center located at San Francisco General Hospital as soon as possible. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sexual Assault Unit, Inspector Sidney Laws or Lt. Dan Leydon at 553-1361.

This Volkswagen Minibus has 21 Windows, Yet Some Would Yearn For More

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

You’d think having 21 windows on your ancient, 1960′s-era VW T1 Type 2 Transporter would put you ahead in the windows race, but you’d be wrong.

As seen in wealthy Sea Cliff, the home (or former home) of Robin Williams, actress Sharon Stone, actor Cheech Marin, screenwriter Monica Cliff, real estate/casino tycoon Luke Brugnara, and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett.

You need to add in two rear corner windows like this in order to get a 23 window model. Here below is the King of All VW buses. It won’t get you up the Waldo Grade in a hurry, but it will get you there, with or without green and blue bear dogs.

The Richers of Sea Cliff Missed It By That Much.

Among American enthusiasts, it is common to refer to the different models by the number of their windows. The basic Kombi or Bus is the 11-window (a.k.a. 3-window bus because of three side windows) with a split windshield, two front cabin door windows, six rear side windows, and one rear window. The deluxe model featured eight rear side windows and two rear corner windows, making it the 15-window (not available in Europe). Meanwhile, the sunroof deluxe with its additional eight small skylight windows is, accordingly, the 23-window. From the 1963 model year, with its wider rear door, the rear corner windows were discontinued, making the latter two the 13-window and 21-window respectively. The 23 and later 21 window variants are usually described as Sambas.

The Slapped-Together Aircraft Advertising Rum Above San Francisco

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Would you look at this airplane seen flying above San Francisco? It’s life-size, not a model. Can you see the Volkswagen Beetle-esque four cylinder boxer motor hanging off the front of it? Appears to be home-made.

It’s amazing that this little thing could tow a billboard (for refreshing Malibu Rum in this case) but that’s what it was doing. No N-Number visible – perhaps this aircraft is too small a plane to need to register with the pesky F.A.A.

Maybe you can’t advertise hard liquor on billboards near public schools anymore, but you can always fly low and slow right above the schools.

Hurray.
