December 3rd, 2011 was San Francisco’s DAY WITHOUT CLOUDS – A Jumbo Sky Filled with (Quiet) Jumbo Jets

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

Yesterday, owing to the unusual winds what blew away* the fog, I saw jumbo jets above S.F. in places where I normally don’t, but I couldn’t really hear  them. (I guess jets have gotten a lot quieter these days.)

Like  this low-flying United Air 747-400 near the Ferry Building – you could hardly hear it:

Parts of Golden Gate Park Closed Due to High Winds – A Blustery Day in San Francisco

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Still more high winds are causing large trees to fall down in Golden Gate Park today. This Monterey Cypress decided to take a swim in Stow Lake and is currently blocking the large recreation path that goes up Strawberry Hill.
Mother Nature didn’t seem too happy on this day of many Earth Day activities. Let’s be careful out there.

Update: The Coast Guard is taking pains to remind all to keep safe on the water during this period of gale warnings in the Bay Area. Read what LTJG Lauren Kolumbic has to say about it all, after the jump.
