Here’s the news from LiveSOMA:
“With the birth of my first son, a ridiculously overwhelming list of work-related projects, and the fact that I was recently priced out of the South of Market Neighborhood and forced to move to a part of the City where homeless people aren’t constantly pooping on my doorstep (GASP!), I have decided not to continue.
With that said, if anyone out there would like to dust off LiveSOMA, I will gladly help you take it over. I would really hate to see the site- and its years of development- go to waste. Just shoot me an email. If not, I will be pulling the plug after the new year.”

As seen on Ashbury:

(BTW, those are plum trees you see blooming all over town since January. Yes the Earth is warming, but not so much that you can tell with your five senses…)

Well, here it is. It’s the long-awaited “CBS San Francisco” site. (I guess this means we’re losing Eye on Blogs as a separate website.)
Anyway, it certainly looks new to me.
Check it out and see what you think.

Bon Courage, CBS San Francisco!

UCSF‘s Mission Bay campus was all filled up yesterday with attentive youths, Genius Bar geniuses, and Laughing Squid’s Scott Beale, so that can mean only one thing – it must have been yet another one-day WordCamp from WordPress.
As always, the focus is “on how to be a better blogger, on the development and future of WordPress, and other topics of interest.” Just read the WordCamp Report for the deets:

But, What Does WordPress Mean To You? That’s something to ponder as you…

Get free help from WP geniuses, such as Brian Colinger, for instance.

Or peruse the Job Board:

Or proactively look for work with your name card.

Or nosh on Southern BBQ complete with ham-hocked collard greens

And steer clear of the WordPress bully boys, with their tattoos and their flashing gang signs. There was lots of stuff to do.

Plus, attendees got American Apparel T-shirts. All this could have been yours for just $25. What a bargain.

See you next year!

As promised, there was a huge turnout for WordCamp from WordPress last Saturday. Check out an insanely detailed account here and some nice photos from Adam Tow here.
Perhaps the best part of WordCamp is the Apple-inspired Genius Bar, where everybody knows your name.

Making your way in the world today takes everything you’ve got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they’re always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.

It’s on! [Update: As of Friday, August 15th, it's sold out. 420 lucky people got tickets.]
WordCamp San Francisco is a conference organized by the creators of WordPress for users and developers. (It will be just like San Francisco’s recent Cupcake Camp, but without the cupcakes.) The 311 on WordCamp:
When?
Saturday, August 16, 2008. Registration will start at 8 a.m. The camp should end around 5:30 or 6 p.m.
Where?
Mission Bay Conference Center, San Francisco — Map
Why?
To get WordPress users together, learn from each other, figure out the future of publishing the web, and have a good time.
What to wear to WC 2008 in S.F.? Your shirt from WordCamp 2006. Of course:

See you there!
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my life and realize there’s nothing left
Cause I’ve been scripting and blogging so long that
Even my mama thinks that my mind is gone
Bin spending most our lives
Living in a Blogga’s Paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in a Blogga’s Paradise
