FGBOTD – Your Ford Motor Company GoBike Of The Day: #11472, a Bicycle Built for Two

Monday, August 21st, 2017

Market Street outbound, in front of that hot new restaurant at the bottom floor of “NeMa” right across the street from taxpayer-subsidized Twitter HQ – you know this fine dining establishment represents SFGov’s annual Twitterloin / Tenderloin / Mid-Market / “New Market” “renaissance,” except actually it doesn’t because this space is totally empty and it’s been so for a while now, oh well:

(And this way, this ride is cheaper than paying the MUNI fare, so that’s something.)

(And what a lazy stoker, not even trying…)

This behavior of course violates your TOS, but then again, Ford Motor Company tracks you more than, say, Citibank does in New Yawk, so maybe this all balances out, maybe we’re all a little bit sneaky.

And oh, here’s the skivvy from a former Trump advisor / Ford Motor Company CEO, you know, just last year:

“Listen, here’s the deal. The opportunity is not bikes. That’s not why Ford’s in it. The opportunity is data, and the data is super valuable because…”

And the reply is that all the interested parties worked out a deal where there’s no telemetry on the bike – of course it’s on you, on your smartphone, right?

And when people ask Motivate International about all this, the reply is that there’s no telemetry on the bike. Well, yeah, but the question is what about all this? The profit-motivated Motivate doesn’t seem to want to answer, oh well.

Here’s Ford Motor Company’s answer, in a way. I just don’t understand how somebody renting a bike gets all this stuff tracked while driving a car the next day:

“Driving Characteristics, such as speed, use of accelerator, brakes, steering, seat belts, and other similar information about how the vehicle is used.”

Oh well…

Cat, Grow, and Halfway: Know Your Sunset and Richmond District Houses – Fogbelt Paradise

Friday, January 30th, 2015

Most of San Francisco’s murders take place in the giant “S” that snakes from the Twitterloin through SoMA, through Hayes Valley, through La Mision, and then on down to Bayview / Hunters Point and Visi Valley.

Year after year.

But occasionally we get murders out in San Francisco County, in the Avenues, the suburbs. And those tend to be associated with your cat houses, your grow houses, and your halfway houses.

Most of the time, except for a few dreaded sunny days, these houses operate in the shadows, in the enveloping fog, quietly chugging out money for a select few.

Chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga chugga:

It’s a kind of paradise, I suppose, for a select few.

(Somebody ought to Kickstart a 40-minute film called Sunset Vice, as if it were one episode of a police procedural shown on network TV…)

“DOES YOUR DAUGHTER HAVE A BETTER DIAMOND THAN YOUR WIFE?”

At least that’s what I think this ad is asking:

Money Changer Update: Does the Burger King Near the Powell Street Turnaround BUY YOUR EUROS? Hell Yes

See?

Now, does it offer a good exchange rate?

I don’t think so.

Anyway, at least Euro tourists can buy food afore they hit a bank or whatever…

Market Street Update: The SFPD Cracks Down as Holiday Preparations Begin

Friday, November 13th, 2009

The Lower Market Christmas Snowflake Lights are officially on through January. Apparently, it was just practice when these lights were on for weeks last summer. As they looked last night, click to expand:

The holidays will be a good time for San Francisco’s illegal taxi trade. See this white Lincoln Town Car? The driver will take you back to your hotel for just $50. Of course a taxi would be cheaper, but where are you going to get a taxi on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night in San Francisco? The City wants people to patiently wait their turns, but our rich tourists don’t like that arrangement. Oh well.

Here’s part of your Mid Market crackdown. The people in the Ford Crown Victoria being stopped by the SFPD are NOT cops. The two in the car were suspects for a brief time last night. Both of them are currently on probation, but that’s not a crime, right?  They must not have done anything all that wrong ’cause they were released after a two- minute detention by the SFPD. Hurray!

And there are fewer cars on Market Street between Sixth and Fifth Streets, but more poo, apparently. Yes, that’s what you think it is, from yesterday, right on the traffic-free inbound slow lane of the “Champ Elysees of the Western Hemisphere.” Oh well.

This concludes Your Market Street Update.
